The free-swinging fun of the ISPS HANDA Mike Tindall Celebrity Golf Classic put a smile on the faces of everyone who gathered to raise funds for two worthwhile causes.
The golf prowess of the actors, football stars, cricketers and rugby players who took to the manicured fairways was varied yet all had a common goal at The Belfry Hotel & Resort in May.
Significant funds were raised for Cure Parkinson’s and the Matt Hampson Foundation. Hampson is an inspirational figure for his dedication to raising funds for spinal care and the advice and support he has offered since his own accident in 2005 when the promising rugby prop was paralysed from the neck down in a scrumaging accident.
As a World Cup-winner in rugby, Tindall’s support for the cause, with wife Zara, has helped in the most practical way. As an ambassador for ISPS HANDA, Tindall sees the Power of Sport making a difference in the most powerful ways.
The charity day gathered a host of sporting stars including former England football captain John Terry, England rugby legend Jeremy Guscott, Ryan Sidebottom, a hero of left-arm pacemen everywhere, former England cricketer Shaun Udal and actor James Nesbitt.
Scottish televison and radio presenter Jenni Falconer, former England players Matt Banahan and Martin Bayfield, acting brothers Ollie and James Phelps and others lapped up the ideal conditions and laidback mood to the day.
